Greek Parliament Building

Built between 1836-1842, this plain and neoclassical building originally served as the house of the king. And in 1924, the building became the house of parliament. In front of the building is the Tomb of Unknown Soldier guarded day and night by elite guards. (the tomb of unknown soldier symbolically represents the war grave of those soldiers in ancient times who have died without their remains being identified). A visit to Athens is incomplete without visiting this place and posing with these elite guards. (Athens, Greece / 2006)

Corinth Canal

This is the canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It was cut through heavily faulted sedimentary rock in an active seismic zone. Being 6343 meters in length and 21 meters in width at the bottom, it has been dug between 1881 and 1893 and is considered a great technical achievement for its time for it saves 400 kilometers of journey. The 8-meter deep canal with 24.6 meters width at water level is mostly used by tourist ships nowadays. (Corinth, Greece / 2006).

Hydra Island

Hydra island is a rocky hill in the Aegean sea. Although it does not posses much of golden beaches, the rocky shores present their own charm. The waters are cool and calm. The climb to the top of a hill is very stiff, but the whitewashed walkways, the full view of the town and the quiet blue ocean give a great reward once you reach the top. There is no room for traffic jam as there is no car available anywhere in the island. The transportation is only through the donkeys, another thing that makes the island more interesting.
