This modern-designed new building which was inaugurated last 20 June 2009 is constructed to be the new home for the artifacts (marble sculptures and bronze) originally displayed at the old Acropolis Museum (1874). The new museum lies at the foot of the hill. The building is elevated above the sloping ground and is supported by pillars. The floor is made of transparent glass allowing the visitors to see the underlying floors and the excavations underneath the buildng. The four level building also caters amphitheater, virtual theater, shop, cafe and hall for exhibitions. (Athens, Greece / 2009)
