This stone theater structure built on the south slope of the Acropolis of Athens was originally a steep-sloped amphitheatre with a three-storey stone front and a wooden roof. It was built in 161 AD and was used as venue for musical concerts and festivals with a capacity of 5,000 persons. The audience stands and the stage were restored in 1950s using pentelic marble. In the present time, the structure is still in use for some important and remarkable events. (Athens, Greece / 2010)
